Chris Lynn created a few records in Big Bash League (BBL) by striking 5 consecutive sixes off Ben Hilfenhaus’ over yielding 30 runs from the over for Brisbane Heat against Melbourne Stars at the MCG yesterday.

The 30-run over bowled by Ben Hilfenhaus was the most expensive over in BBL history beating Daniel Worrall’s 29-run over against Hobart Hurricanes with Melbourne Stars on receiving end on that time as well.

Worrall conceded 29 runs during the previous edition of the tournament at the very same venue which includes 2 wides. The over started with Gublis taking a single and Worrall bowling wide delivery next up. Darren Sammy, who was on strike smashed Worrall for 6, 6, 4, 6 on consecutive deliveries before the bowler bowled yet another wide. Sammy finished the over with another four extracting 29 runs.

The 3rd most expensive over in BBL came during Melbourne Renagades’ innings against Brisbane Heat during 3rd season at Docklands where Alister McDermott bowled 2 waist height no-balls and Ben Cutting needed to finish the over.

Travis Head smashed 27 runs in Sean Abbott’s over in this season and that was the joint 4th most expensive over in League’s history. Overall, there are 7 overs in Big Bash League where 26 or more runs have been scored. Interestingly, 2 of those came in same match. Perth Scorchers’ Brad Hogg conceded 26 runs in an over against Melbourne Stars at Perth in the semifinal of 2nd edition. Later in 2nd innings, Shaun Marsh smashed 27 runs in Alex Keath’s over, which was the bowlers’ very first over in T20 cricket.
