Back in January 2016, the Indian team was blessed with a bowler by the name of Jasprit Bumrah. The fast bowler from Ahmedabad has grown leaps and bounds ever since and is currently an indispensable member of the national team in all the formats. His ability to bowl Yorkers at will along with his subtle variations in pace have turned out to be a massive headache for the opponents.

The 24-year-old has played six Tests, 44 ODIs and 39 T20Is in which he has notched 28, 78 and 48 wickets respectively. The right-arm speedster is currently playing the three-match T20I series against Australia and hasn’t let down his team by any stretch of the imagination. In the first match in Brisbane, he conceded 21 runs and picked up the prized scalp of Glenn Maxwell.

Bumrah- A standout performer

Even in the second match in Melbourne, Bumrah gave away only 20 runs and nipped out Marcus Stoinis, who was destructive the other night at The Gabba. In the meantime, Bumrah has had a stupendous run in the T20I format, so much so that he has picked up the most T20I wickets ever since his debut. Australian pacer Andrew Tye is second on the list with 36 wickets from 25 matches.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya, who is currently recovering from a back injury, is the other Indian in the list with 33 wickets from 35 encounters. Surprisingly, Bumrah also has an incredible economy rate of 6.64, which in itself is jaw-dropping. Also, the fact that he mostly bowls at a time when the batters try to smack everything out of the park, makes his economy look even more staggering.

In the list, every other bowler has an economy of over eight, which shows the difficulty of restricting the batsmen in the 20-overs format. He is next scheduled to play the third T20I against Aaron Finch and Co on Sunday followed by the four-match Test series that starts on December 6 at Adelaide Oval. Bumrah is also expected to be a vital cog in the team for the World Cup in England and Wales.
