Stats: Virat Kohli becomes the fastest to score 28 ODI centuries

Among the 4 players who have scored 28 ODI tons including Kohli, no one has taken as fewer innings to hit their 28th ODI century.

After a couple of failures in the previous two games, Virat Kohli turned up strong in the 5th ODI at Kingston and played a captain’s knock with an unbeaten century in the run-chase against the home side to complete a series win. With this hundred, Kohli became only the 4th batsman in ODI history to score 28 centuries.

Till date, only 6 players have scored 25 and more centuries in ODI cricket out of those only Virat and Hashim Amla (25) are the active players. Sachin Tendulkar is firmly placed at the top with 49 ODI centuries and Virat needs 5-6 good years in this format to beat Tendulkar and become the first player ever to smash 50 ODI tons.

Among the 4 players who have scored 28 ODI hundreds including Kohli, no one got there faster than Kohli in terms of innings as he to hit their 28th ODI century in 181 innings. Sachin needed 259 while other two took over 310 ODI innings to score hundred number 28.
