Sydney Sixers batsman inks three-year deal with Melbourne Stars

The Big Bash League (BBL) is certainly growing in stature with every passing season. It has become an ideal launchpad for the young cricketers. Interestingly, the players are now considering internal swaps as well in their bid to get better opportunities. In the latest update, hard-hitting opener Nic Maddinson has parted ways with the Sydney Sixers.

He will now be seen playing for the Melbourne Stars. Nic Maddinson signed a three year deal with the stars recently. As per the quotes in Cricbuzz, Maddinson admitted that it was a tough decision to make but he had to go forward in his pursuit of a better opportunity.

“I have very much enjoyed my time at the Sydney Sixers over the last several years and am very grateful for the opportunities they have given me. While it was a very difficult decision to leave, I now look forward to taking on new challenges at the Melbourne Stars,” Nic Maddinson quoted.

“I have some good friends in the Stars squad and I’ve heard great things about the culture that Stephen Fleming, the coaching staff and the leadership team has created. My focus will be on helping the Melbourne Stars win the BBL,” he added.

Coach happy with the new recruit

Commenting on the new recruit, the head coach of the Melbourne Stars expressed his happiness. David Hussey, the head coach, hailed Nic Maddinson as a consistent performer. He also noted that the experience of Maddinson will be useful considering the fact that team has lost Kevin Pietersen now.

“Nic has been a consistent performer in the BBL for the past seven seasons and, with the departure of Kevin Pietersen, we knew he would be the perfect fit for our new-look batting line up next season,” the Melbourne Stars batting coach David Hussey quoted.
