In what can be called a major development, Sydney Sixers have roped in Shadab Khan for the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2021-22. It must be noted that the Pakistan all-rounder played for Brisbane Heat in the 2017-18 season. Hence, Sydney would be his second team in Australia’s primary T20 competition. Shadab’s inclusion would indeed be a massive boost for the Sixers as the leg-spinner is a proven star in the T20 format.

Vice-captain of Pakistan’s white-ball team, Shadab isn’t a massive turner of the ball. However, he relies on his accuracy and variations to get the better of batters. The leggie tends to choke the run-flow in the middle overs and his ability to chip in with regular wickets makes him an even greater asset. Shadab is set to join forces with veteran left-arm spinner Steve O’Keefe in the Sixers camp.

Not to forget, Shadab is also a handy batter lower down the order who can play big shots in crunch situations. His fielding skills are also worth mentioning. All these factors make Shadab a captain’s delight in this format and the Sixers would be delighted to get him on board.

Meanwhile, Shadab’s appointment with Sixers was confirmed by PakPassion. “Shadab Khan has signed to play for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League #BBL11 #Cricket,” tweeted veteran journalist Saj Sadiq on Thursday (December 23).

Speaking of how Shadab has fared in BBL so far, the leg-spinner played three matches in the seventh edition the competition and returned with six wickets for the Heat. His economy rate was also just a tad over seven. Moreover, the leggie’s recent form has been impressive as well. He did well in this year’s T20 World Cup and was also impressive in the recently-concluded T20I series against West Indies.

Hence, the Moises Henriques-led side will have high hopes from him. Meanwhile, Haris Rauf, Muhammad Hasnain, Syed Faridoun, and Ahmed Daniyal are the other Pakistan players to sign agreements to feature in the ongoing BBL. While Haris, Faridoun and Daniyal are representing Melbourne Stars, Hasnain is playing for Sydney Thunders.
