Somerset will be locking horns with Derbyshire in their quarter-final encounter of the T20 Blast 2022 at The Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton on Saturday, July 9. Both teams would be looking to put their best foot forward in order to advance to the next stage of the tournament.

Somerset finished the league stage at the second position in the South Group points table, having won 10 out of the 14 matches that they played with 20 points in their tally and a superior net run rate of 0.630. They finished just one point behind the table-toppers Surrey. Somerset head into this contest having beaten Glamorgan, Middlesex and Surrey in the last three games of the tournament and look unstoppable at the moment.

Derbyshire on the other hand have also been pretty impressive in the group stage, having finished at the third position in the North Group points table with nine victories from 14 league games and 18 points to their tally at an NRR of 0.054. Derbyshire have the same number of points compared to the top two teams Warwickshire and Lancashire, but it is a superior net run rate that separates them from both teams.

Derbyshire also enjoy a winning run heading into this contest having got the better of Durham and Lancashire in their last two matches.

Pitch Report

The Taunton surface is expected to be a fast-paced one with plenty of bounce on offer. The batters will also be geared up for a run-fest and a par score of 200+ could be on the cards. It is to be noted that no team has shown interest in batting first at Taunton in the ongoing edition of the T20 Blast. Therefore, the captain that calls it right at the toss will look to bowl first.
