Bangladesh will host Afghanistan and Zimbabwe in a T20I Tri-series starting on Friday which will involve seven matches including a final. Afghanistan, led by Rashid Khan, will start as favourites given their recent record in the T20Is. They have not lost a T20I for more than three years in the Asian conditions. Their confidence is on a high after the recent win in the one-off Test match against Bangladesh. The hosts have been quite inconsistent in this format while Zimbabwe had no success for two years.

All the key stats and numbers that matter ahead of the Tri-Nation T20I series in Bangladesh:

1 – Zimbabwe’s victory in their recent most T20I against Ireland was their first win in 14 matches in the format. They lost 12 T20Is in this period including 11 in a row while another game ended in a Tie which the Zimbabwe team won in Super Over.


10* – Afghanistan is currently on a winning streak of 10 matches in the T20I format. This is the 2nd longest winning streak for any team behind their own streak of 11 matches between 2016 and 2017 in T20Is. No other team has won 10 consecutive T20I matches in Men’s cricket.


19 – Afghanistan has won each of their last 19 T20I matches in Asia. Their last T20I defeat in Asia came against England during the 2016 WT20. Afghanistan lost the game played in Delhi by mere 15 runs.


47 – Rashid Khan is the leading wicket-taker in the T20 format in 2019. He has taken 47 wickets from 37 matches at an average of 20.34 with help of a 5-wicket haul and a 4-fer.


48 – Mustafizur Rahman needs two more wickets to become the 2nd player after Shakib Al Hasan (88) to claim 50 wickets in T20I cricket for Bangladesh. If Mustafizur takes those two wickets in his next match, he will become the joint 2nd fastest to 50 T20I wickets.


49 – Afghanistan won 49 out of the 71 matches they played in the T20I format. They need one more win to become the 8th team with 50 wins in T20I cricket.


89.83 – Craig Ervine’s batting average of 89.83 in the Twenty20 format in 2019 is the highest for any player (Min: 500 runs) The Zimbabwe batsman scored 539 runs from ten innings with half of seven half-centuries.


199 – Number of wickets for Shakib Al Hasan in International cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. He needs one more wickets to complete 200 International wickets at a single venue. Shakib took 113 ODI wickets, 63 wickets in Test cricket and 23 in T20Is.


298 – Shakib Al Hasan is two matches away from completing 300 appearances in Twenty20 cricket. He will be the first Bangladesh player to appear in 300 T20s while no other player from this country featured in even 200 T20s till date. Mahmudullah (196) will become the 2nd player from Bangladesh to appear in 200 Twenty20 matches.


906 – Sabbir Rahman needs 94 runs to complete 1000 runs in T20I cricket. He will become the 5th batsman to score 1000 T20I runs for Bangladesh when he scores those 94 runs.
