The Hundred 2022: Dwaine Pretorius, Wayne Parnell and Chloe Brewer join as replacement signings

The Hundred have announced the arrival of Dwaine Pretorius, Wayne Parnell, and Chloe Brewer as replacement signings in the ongoing second season of the tournament. Wayne Parnell put on a sizzling bowling display in South Africa’s dominant win in the second T20I against Ireland recently, bagging his maiden five-wicket haul for the proteas in the format. He will be joining Northern Superchargers as a short-term replacement for veteran all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, who will depart for the Caribbean to fulfill his duties in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), after 21st August. Parnell’s compatriot Dwaine Pretorius, who started for the Proteas in the recently concluded T20I series against Ireland with bat and ball, will feature for Welsh Fire, reuniting with South African coach Gary Kirsten. The all-rounder has been roped as a replacement for young Pakistani pacer Naseem Shah, who withdrew from the tournament owing to national commitments with the Pakistani white-ball team. Pretorius will feature for the Welsh Fire from August 8th to 26th. The star all-rounder’s final appearance in the competition will be against Northern Superchargers on August 26, before joining defending CPL champions St Kitts & Nevis Patriots for the upcoming season along with teammate Dwayne Bravo. Heather Knight will miss the entirety of the Hundred due to her hip injury Meanwhile, the Women’s Hundred has also seen a few changes to the squads as batting all-rounder Chloe Brewer will replace the injured Heather Knight for the London Spirit. The South East Stars sensation will have a big shoe to fill but has shown glimpses of her potential in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy with impressive knocks of 49 and 61 in her only two appearances. England Women’s team captain Heather Knight suffered a critical injury blow against South Africa leading up to the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Her injury meant that she played no part in the English team’s campaign in the historic inaugural Women’s T20 competition at the multi-sport event, as her team bowed out from the competition after suffering a heartbreaking defeat against India, following another defeat against New Zealand in the Bronze medal match.
