The trophy for the fourth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) was unveiled in a ceremony in Dubai on Tuesday. Captains and owners of all six franchises- Darren Sammy, Shoaib Malik, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Sami, and Sarfraz Ahmed were present on the occasion. Pakistan Super League chief Ehsan Mani addressed the crowd. Managing Director Wasim Khan was also present at the event.

In a recent tweet, the official handle of PSL on Twitter released an elaborate video on the main trophy along with the fellow awards. The fourth edition of the PSL is set to commence on this Thursday, February 14. The defending champions Islamabad United will take on Lahore Qalandars. Dubai will host the inaugural ceremony followed by the first game of the PSL.

There cannot be a better opportunity than this- Mani

Even though Dubai is currently enduring intermittent showers of rain, the play and ceremony are not expected to be halted. Moreover, the league will stay in Dubai from February 14 – 17 and then move into Sharjah. The first match will start with a star-studded ceremony as a forerunner. The opening celebration will have the Latin Grammy Award-winning Pitbull, along with one of the biggest bands in Pakistan: Junoon as the headliners.

PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani explained how the PSL is serving as a platform for aspiring superstars of the future. “It is a great inspiration for the young cricketers,” he said. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for them to show their skills and play alongside some of the greatest cricketers in the world. There cannot be a better opportunity than this,” he added.

Mani’s statement was backed by Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed. “PSL has made a huge difference. It has produced a lot of good cricketers such as Hasan Ali, Rumman Raees and Shadab Khan. This should continue, and more and more matches should be played in Pakistan,” Sarfraz was quoted as saying.
