Top 10 Batsmen with most fifty plus scores in T20Is

T20Is have produced some breathtaking batting performances over the years. The shortest format of the cricket has provided some high-class entertainment at the highest level of cricket. On flat pitches, batsmen love going hammer and tongs from the outset to put pressure on the bowlers. Some of the greatest crowd-pullers have enthralled fans with their incredible batting exploits in the format. Here’s a look at 10 men with fifty or more scores in T20Is. 10. Mohammad Shahzad – 10: (Photo Source: Facebook) The hard-hitting opening batsman for Afghanistan who is also an Idol of Indian captain MS Dhoni & fond of his helicopter shots. Shahzad did well in T20Is for his team which made him the leading run-scorer for Afghanistan & the only player from his team to reach the 1000-run milestone in this format. He has played 48 T20Is and scored 1367 runs at an average of 29.71 with a career best of 118* against Zimbabwe in 2015. 9. Hamilton Masakadza- 10: Zimbabwe Hamilton Masakadza. Though, his record in the shortest format of the game is most impressive. Known for muscular play off the front foot, Masakadza has also added hook and pull to his repertoire that makes him effective opening the innings. He has played 47 T20Is and scored 1363 runs at an average of 30.28 with a career best of 93 not out against Bangladesh in 2016. 8. Martin Guptill- 11: New Zealand’s Martin Guptill. A right-handed top order batsman, Guptill has consistently been among the runs for New Zealand. Guptill’s success is particularly remarkable as he has only two toes on one of his feet as the result of a forklift accident a few years ago. He has played 61 T20Is scoring 1806 runs at an average of 34.73. His career best is a brilliant unbeaten 101 off 69 he scored against South Africa in 2012. 7. Shane Watson- 11: Shane Watson. (© Getty Images) The Australian all-rounder Shane Watson is an aggressive brute with a broad chest and someone who often doesn’t need to follow-through to gain a boundary. However, his drives and pulls are delivered in a much smoother style. Always a dangerous striker in the shorter formats, Watson has now retired from Test cricket. He has played 58 T20Is and scored 1462 runs at an average of 29.24 with a career best of 124 not out against India in 2016. 6. Rohit Sharma has three of the top-5 highest individual scores for India in T20Is. With 11 fifty-plus scores, Sharma is second to Virat Kohli in most scores of fifty or more for India & 6th in the list. The opening batsman has scored 1292 runs at an average of 30.76 & strike rate of 126.91 in 60 games. His highest score of 106 has come on the losing side against South Africa in 2015. 5. If his bat isn’t doing the talking his mouth probably is, and either way, you can expect an assertive approach. One of the most destructive hitters in world cricket, Warner opens for Australia in all three formats. His breathtaking 89 from 43 balls on debut against South Africa in a T20I told the world of his talent, but few at the time expected him to become a key Test player as well. He has played 61 T20Is scoring 1633 runs at an average of 28.15 with a best of 90 not out against Sri Lanka in 2013. 4. Tillakaratne Dilshan- 14: T Dilshan. He is technically sound, but, much like Virender Sehwag, he uses the defensive option only as a last resort, after the attacking alternatives have been explored. He loves to make room and thrash the ball through the off side along with the Dilscoop shot over his head. His 78 T20Is have yielded 1884 runs at an average of 28.98 with a best of 104 not out against Australia in 2011. 3. Brendon McCullum- 15: Brendon McCullum. He will retire after the 2 home Tests against Australia in February and unfortunately, won’t feature in the 2016 WorldT20 in India. He has played 71 T20Is and scored 2140 runs at n average of 35.66. His best is 123 against Bangladesh in 2012. Brash, brutal and brilliant to watch, Brendon McCullum can bruise bowling attacks like few other men in international cricket. 2. The T20 format suits his style of batting and he is without a doubt the greatest batsman in this format. A batsman who relishes monstrous hits, Gayle is a nightmare for bowlers when in form. The big man from Jamaica is a magnetic crowd-puller and one cricket’s most entertaining batsmen ever. He has played 49 T20Is scoring 1510 runs at an average of 36.82 with a best of 117 against South Africa in the opening game of the 2007-2008 ICC World Twenty20. 1. It is also proof of Kohli’s transformation as a player. His 43 T20Is have yielded 1641 runs at an average of 58.60 with a career best of 90 not out against Australia in 2016.
