8. Michael Clarke – 3946 runs:
Australia’s 2015 World Cup winning captain Michael Clarke retired after the end of the 2015 Ashes series, which he lost to England. Clarke scored a total of 8,643 runs in 115 Tests with an average of 38.19.
He came to captaincy after Ricky Ponting stepped down from captaincy after the 2011 World Cup. He captained Australia in 47 Tests making 3946 runs and winning 24 of them. His highest score of 329* came against India in 2012 at Sydney Cricket Ground and followed that by making 210 at Adelaide making him the 3rd player to score a triple hundred and a double hundred in the same series.
