1. 263/3 – Australia vs Sri Lanka, Pallekele, 2016:

ustralia shattered Sri Lanka’s record of the highest Twenty20 International score against them in the 1st T20I of the 2016 series at Pallekele. It was Glenn Maxwell’s night and when the Big Show takes center stage more often than not its he who rules the proceedings while everyone else including the bowlers are mere spectators. He was promoted to the opening slot and made most of it. He faced 65 balls more than 50% of the team’s inning and scored 55% of the team’s total. At the end of the inning Maxwell was unbeaten on 145 from 65 balls with 14 fours and 9 sixes.

Skipper Warner contributed 28 to the team total, Usman Khawaja though struggled scored 36 and towards the end Travis Head played an entertaining knock of 45 off 18 balls to give them a push towards overhauling the highest T20I score of 260.

In all, the Australian batters plundered 14 sixes and 25 fours on the night. Both the batsmen Maxwell who were unbeaten at the end and Head scored with a strike rate over 200. It was 223 for the opener and 250 for the latter. It was a tall ask for the Sri Lankan batters who would come out with a mountain to climb but failed.
