Top 10 Teams with Most Half Centuries In Test Cricket: Test cricket tests you for run and the taste that you get on scoring those runs, a batsman gets a tag of being a tried and tested player. Thus a test half century is a creditable achievement in its own right. Lots of players have managed to score test fifties and have announced themselves in this format of the game. Now let us look at Top 10 Teams With Most Half Centuries In Test Cricket: 10. Bangladesh – 175: Bangladesh. (Photo Source: AFP) Bangladesh are in the last position in the list. Bangladesh have been playing cricket only 15 years now so it is understandable why they have only 175 individual players who have scored half centuries. Nevertheless they have produced some excellent batsmen over the years like Shakib Al Hasan, Mohd Ashraful, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah and Tamim Iqbal. 9. Zimbabwe – 207: Zimbabwe. (© Getty Images) Zimbabwe have been playing test cricket for more than two decades now, so it must be disappointing for them that they have only 207 individual half centurions against their name. They’ve had great batsmen over the years, but couldn’t produce those type of batsmen on a consistent basis. 8. Sri Lanka – 488: Sri Lanka. (© Getty Images) Sri Lanka have been playing cricket only from 1982 so it is really appreciable that they have managed to have nearly 500 individual half centurions. Sri Lanka have always produced good batsmen over the years like Arjuna Ranatunga, Marvan Atapattu, Sanath Jayasuriya Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene and Aravinda De Silva, all legends of the game and all time greats. 7. They became an independent nation only after the partition from India in 1947 so they couldn’t rack up as many half centuries as they would have liked. Nonetheless they’ve produced their share of excellent batters like Imran Khan, Javed Miandad and Inzamam Ul Haq. 6. New Zealand – 803: New Zealand. (© Getty Images) New Zealand are placed 6th in the list. It isn’t great that they have just one half century more than Pakistan despite playing cricket for 20 more years than Pakistan. It tells us the story that New Zealand haven’t quite produced the batsmen on a regular basis as compared to the bowlers. However, they’ve produced their share of legendary batters like Stephen Fleming and Brendon McCullum. 5. South Africa – 848: South Africa. The half century count is a bit low considering the fact that they’ve been playing test cricket for over 100 years. The Proteas have produced some fabulous batsmen over the years like Greame Smith, AB de Villiers and Jacques Kallis. 4. India – 1082: India. (© Getty Images) India is one of the only four countries to go past the 1000 half tons mark. India have 1082 half centurions to their name despite playing test cricket only from 1932. So it is an appreciable stat considering that. They have never been short of batting talent and have produced legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid among a list of other gems. 3. West Indies – 1097: West Indies. The Caribbean nation has had some great batsmen over the years who have redefined the art of batting like Brian Lara, Vivian Richards, Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Chris Gayle. 2. Australia – 1721: Australia. (© Getty Images) Australia have been playing test cricket from 1887 so it is quite understandable why they feature 2nd in our list. Nonetheless their achievement is worth every appreciation. Australia have 1721 half centuries in front of their name over the years and have produced some great batsmen like Sir Don Bradman, Ricky Ponting and Allan Border. 1. England – 2013: England. (© Getty Images) England have played the most number of test matches so it is hardly surprising why they are at the top of the tree. This is the only team to go past the 2000 half century milestone.
