There has been no shortage of sixes, with short boundaries, massive bat sizes, and favorable conditions being some of the factors that have contributed to batsman dominance in this edition. Surprisingly perhaps, there is no Indian player on the list which just shows the strength and destructive capabilities of the overseas talent on display this season. While recording the highest individual score this season of 116, the English international bludgeoned a 107 meter six off Delhi Capitals’ (DC) Shardul Thakur. Buttler hit nine sixes in his 65 ball innings, which ended up being the difference in a high-scoring thriller where both teams crossed 200, helping Rajasthan Royals narrowly come out on top. This is also the joint-highest number of sixes hit by a batter in an innings in IPL 2022. The 31-year-old has been having a prolific season and is the highest run-getter this season, amassing 618 runs, including three centuries and fifties each. If Rajasthan does go all the way, Buttler will have a shot at breaking Virat Kohli‘s record of 973 runs in 2016 to go with four centuries. 4. The tall and lanky Proteas pacer bowled a length delivery to a well-set Pooran, who dispatched it to the boundary. The southpaw smacked the ball over the deep mid-wicket fielder that landed on the second tier. The newly-appointed West Indies white-ball captain has been in scintillating form this season. The 26-year-old cricketer has closed out some crucial run chases for SRH, averaging 52.2 and striking at an impressive 147.45, including two half-centuries. 3. Liam Livingstone (108m) Liam-Livingstone-six. (Photo Source: Twitter) The hard-hitting English all-rounder, acquired by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for INR 11.5 crore, smashed a sensational 108-meter six against promising Chennai Super Kings (CSK) left-arm seamer Mukesh Choudhary. The young fast bowler bowled a length delivery and Livingstone pounced on it with a big heave over the mid-wicket region. The middle-order batter accumulated 26 runs off the same over to get Punjab’s innings rolling. In a match-winning performance where he also took two wickets and as many catches, Livingstone made a quickfire 60 off just 32 deliveries, particularly taking a liking to the inexperienced Choudhary. Overall, the aggressive Livingstone has finally announced himself on the big stage justifying the faith showed by PBKS, hitting 25 sixes this edition, many of them over 100m. He is currently third in the list of most sixes hit by a batter after Jos Buttler (37) and Andre Russell (27). 2. Dewald Brevis (112m) Dewald Brevis. (Photo Source: Twitter) In a stunning assault against proven India international Rahul Chahar, a young batting prodigy from South Africa, Dewald Brevis smashed four sixes in a row, the longest one being 112 meters, which was the biggest six hit in the tournament back then. The 18-year-old batter went down on his knees to dispatch the fourth ball of the over for a mammoth six over the wide long-on fielder. Although he played only six matches, Brevis left a long-lasting impression, scoring 124 runs at a healthy strike rate of over 150. With four matches still to play, Dewald Brevis would look to end the campaign on a high, and perhaps even stake a claim for the upcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in Australia later this year. 1. (Photo Source: Twitter) On top of the list of longest maximums for this year’s edition is Punjab Kings (PBKS) Liam Livingstone, making his second appearance, with a 117-meter towering six. The hard-hitting batter is known for smacking some big sixes and he has lived up to the potential in IPL 2022 so far. In the thrilling match against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the early part of the season, Livingstone smacked four sixes in a 27-ball 64, which included a monster blow, off premier Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami. It was a length delivery and Livingstone swung his bat to clear the mid-wicket region with utmost ease. The 28-year-old is Punjab’s second-highest run-getter this season with 315 runs coming at a destructive strike rate of 184 (the highest for players with over 300 runs) to go along with his useful bowling contributions.
