For the first time in the history of the T10 League, a side was bowled out within the stipulated 10 overs. The Maratha Arabians bagged this embarrassing record while playing the fifth match of the season against Punjabi Legends. On a day where the bowlers dominated, mind-boggling spells from Chris Jordan and Zahir Khan made this possible.

On a belter of a pitch, these two picked 7 wickets in combination in the 20 balls that they bowled and gave away only 14 runs. While the Afghan spinner accounted for three scalps, the English all-rounder gulped down four. These special bowling performances helped the Legends win by a mammoth 43 runs to claim the top spot on points table in Group B.

The Arabians fail to execute the plans on the field

The Maratha Arabians had the toss advantage in this match. DJ Bravo had no hesitations in opting to bowl first after winning the toss. The team decided to add more volume to the bowling attack as they trusted their top four batsmen to deliver what was required. It did start off well for them as they picked three wickets in a quick span of time.

Luke Ronchi, Evin Lewis and Tom Moores were dismissed for 11, 0 and 12 runs respectively. But, the middle-order came to the rescue. They went hard after the bowlers and Umar Akmal with 31 runs was the highest scorer of the innings. The team ended with 121 runs in 10 overs.

With the kind of onslaught that was on display from Jordan and Khan, the Maratha Arabians were never going to make it in the chase. They tried to go a bit too hard after the bowlers which eventually proved to be their undoing. Alex Hales put up a gallant resistance with 32 off 18 balls before Zahir dismissed him. Najibullah was the only other batsman to get to the double-figures and the side was ultimately bowled out for 78 runs in 9.2 overs.

Twitterati was left bewildered after seeing Chris Jordan and Zahir Khan bowl like that. The Arabians’ fans couldn’t believe what they were seeing. This duo was drenched in praise from all over the world.

Here is how Twitterati reacted:
