Delhi Capitals registered a comprehensive nine-wicket win over UP Warriorz in Match 4 of Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 on Monday, February 26 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. After being put in to bat first, UP posted were blown away by the brilliant bowling of Marizanne Kapp (3/5) and Radha Yadav (4/20) as they were restricted to 119/9 in their allotted 20 overs. 

Shweta Sehrawat was the lone warrior in UP’s innings with her knock of 45 (42) laced with five fours and a six. In reply, Delhi comfortably chased down the target in 14.3 overs as Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning got involved in a massive 119-run stand off 86 balls.

1. Marizanne Kapp’s sensational opening spell

The South African all-rounder started the proceedings well for her side as she removed opener Vrinda Dinesh in her second over. She further accounted for UP Captain Alyssa Healy (13 off 15) and Tahlia McGrath (1 off 8) to register figures of 3/5 in four overs.


2. Shweta Sehrawat shines on her birthday

The 20-year-old batter continued her marvellous form in the ongoing season as she was the lone warrior in UP’s innings. Sehrawat played a brilliant knock of 45 (42) with the help of five fours and a six guiding her team to a respectable total of 119/9. Earlier, she scored 31 off 25 during UP’s opening fixture against Royal Challengers Bangalore Women.

3. Shafali Verma scores a quick-fire half-century

After a failure in the season opener, Shafali Verma bounced back in style playing a quick-fire knock of 64 off 43 balls. The explosive opener clobbered six fours and four sixes during her knock taking Delhi over the line with her first half-century of the season.
