Twitter Reactions: RCB go down meekly to the Delhi Capitals; lose six on the trot

Every time Virat Kohli comes to the toss with a renewed hope backing his players and time and again, the team collectively lets him down. The case repeated at the Chinnaswamy stadium on Sunday again as the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsmen played rash shots, bowlers bowled a lot of wides and the fielders did their part as well by giving away overthrows. However, one can’t take any credit away from the Delhi Capitals who were clinical. After opting to field first, they first restricted the home team to 149 runs and then came out to chase it brilliantly. Shreyas Iyer led from the front by playing a scintillating knock of 67 runs and was well assisted by Prithvi Shaw and Colin Ingram. Though somehow, they decided to make it tough for themselves by playing poor strokes with only six runs needed to win. Iyer, Chris Morris and Rishabh Pant got out with the victory well within sight. Even Virat Kohli was seen laughing with the way the wickets were falling as the RCB had no hopes of winnings. Axar Patel then completed the formalities as the Capitals registered their third win of the season. RCB lose wickets at regular intervals Earlier, the RCB didn’t get off to a great start. Parthiv Patel got out early off Chris Morris after which Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers steadied the innings with a cautious partnership. But the latter was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada after an enterprising 20. Marcus Stoinis also couldn’t do much and the innings got the impetus only after Moeen Ali came out to bat. The left-hander farmed strike for 18 balls during his 24-ball partnership with Kohli and scored 32 runs to increase the run-rate suddenly. But a little bit sensible cricket from him would’ve helped the RCB in the game. After hitting Lamichhane for a six, he went for another one and was stumped. Kohli didn’t get any strike during this period even Akshdeep Nath got a couple of boundaries. When on strike, the skipper smacked the Nepal leggie for a couple of boundaries to get going. Just when the crowd thought that their captain will propel them to a decent total. But Rabada’s pace was too much for him as the South African got his wicket to trigger a collapse. RCB lost a total of three wickets in the 18th over to finish on the under-par 149 runs for the loss of eight wickets after 20 overs. The score was going to be enough for the bowlers and the Delhi Capitals got back to the winning ways by putting the home team into submission. RCB, meanwhile, have now lost six matches in as many outings and their playoff chances look even bleaker.
