The Windies Test series was supposed to be a breather and a chance for the Indian batsmen to regain their lost confidence on England tour. It is also a trial for the upcoming Australia Tests. But KL Rahul has blown away both the batting opportunities with the scores of 0 and 4. While Prithvi Shaw has looked in scintillating touch and his partner, in complete contrast, struggled to get going.

After skittling the Windies out for 311 on the second day of the ongoing final Test match, Team India got off to a brilliant start courtesy the 18-year-old. But Rahul was tentative during his 24-ball stay in the middle. While he left the balls outside the off-stump well, the incoming deliveries continued to trouble him. There was no confidence in his strokes and his only confident scoring shot was his first ball where the batsman took three runs.

No confidence

KL Rahul, more than anything, has struggled to adapt to the Indian conditions strangely. He had tinkered with his technique a bit during the five Tests in England and it seems that he is finding it tough to cope with the change in conditions once again. His forgettable stay in the middle finally brought to an end by Jason Holder.

Rahul looked unsure about playing the delivery outside the off-stump and made a late decision to leave it. However, it didn’t work for him as the ball hit his bat and chopped on to the stumps. The batsman was visibly frustrated after getting out and with the hosts likely to bat only once, the 26-year-old might go to Australia with literally no score under his belt now.

It will also be interesting to see if Virat Kohli will include him in the playing XI in Australia as he had dropped Ajinkya Rahane based on current form earlier this year in South Africa. Twitterati was also not happy with his dismissal and lashed out at him.
