The 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia is currently taking place and footballers from all around the globe have already started wielding their magic. The event has been a witness to some riveting contests thus far and is only expected to get better as the orgy progresses towards its business end. The crowd have also swarmed in and packed the venues in order to root for their favorite teams.

England is in Group G and will play their first match today versus Tunisia. On 24th and 28th June, they will lock horns with Panama and Belgium respectively. The team will be led by Harry Kane, who plays for Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League. In the 2014 World Cup, they were knocked out after the group stage and they would definitely want to park the disappointment aside.

England is ranked 12th in the World rankings, while Tunisia is placed in the 21st slot and hence the former is expected to come out trumps in their opening match. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, wished England and captain Kane for their upcoming match.

The Indian skipper took to Twitter and wrote “Wishing you a successful World Cup campaign @HKane! #WorldCupRussia2018 #HarryCan”

Here is Virat’s post

Virat’s road ahead

Virat went through some tumultuous times earlier. He suffered from a neck injury in the IPL and was subsequently ruled out of his maiden county stint versus Surrey. However, he managed to pass the rather tricky yo-yo test and has confirmed his selection in the upcoming series versus Ireland and England.

India is scheduled to play two T20Is versus Ireland later this month. Thereafter, they will lock horns with England in a T20I, ODI and a Test series which starts on the first week of July. Nevertheless, it goes without saying that Virat is speculated to be a vital cog in their setup.
