In January, the occasion of the meeting between Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and the Indian cricket team in Sydney made the headlines. Then, the Australian premier made light mention of Rishabh Pant’s sledging from behind the wickets. Now, it was the turn for India captain, Virat Kohli, to meet the British Queen before the start of the ICC World Cup 2019 and the social media has already been speculating over what the two had spoken about.

On Wednesday, Kohli went to the Buckingham Palace along with the other captains participating in the World Cup ahead of the Opening Party at the Mall. Photos later did the rounds showing Queen Elizabeth II sharing light moments with the captains, including Kohli, and the social media came up with some hilarious imaginations.

Some Indian fans reminded Kohli as the Kohinoor diamond that the British had taken from India in the past and which is now part of the Crown Jewels. They advised him to demand the diamond from the queen during their talks. The Twitter was left in splits, no wonder.

Here are some of the reactions that Twitter came up with over Kohli’s meeting with the British queen

India in hunt for third World Cup title

India is playing in the 12th World Cup aiming to win their third title after 1983 and 2011. If they can win it this year, this will be the second time in England after Kapil Dev’s side achieved the feat 36 years ago. Virat Kohli’s men will take on Faf du Plessis’ South Africa in their first match at the Rose Bowl, Southampton, on June 5.

India lost to New Zealand in their first warm-up game but came back strongly to thump Bangladesh in the second game.

The World Cup kicked off on Thursday when hosts England met South Africa at the Kennington Oval. The Proteas won the toss and sent Eoin Morgan’s side to bat first and Imran Tahir struck early, picking Jonny Bairstow in the second ball of the innings. Both scored the fifties before South Africa picked them in quick succession.
