The newly-wed Ravindra Jadeja recently took his Gujarat Lions team owner, Keshav Bansal, for a Gujarati gastronomy tour. Keshav Bansal, who was born a brought up in Delhi, was introduced to the world famous Gujarati Thali by the local boy Jadeja.

He one by one described all the dishes present in Thali. The Intex scion looked curious about many things and kept asking Jaddu lot of questions. Jadeja began with his personal favorite is Bajre ko Rotlo and Baingan ka Bharta. He also said that whenever he’s at home he prefers eating ‘Bajre ki roti’ as it has health benefits.

Keshav then was keen to know why Gujarati people prefer starting their meals with sweets as generally people prefer ending their meal with sweets.

Jaddu had a very wonderful reply to it. He said, “Because of our sweet nature, our food also happens to be sweet.”

Keshav then found ‘Thepla’ in the thali. Jadeja had a very interesting memory attached to Theplas. He said that during his early days in the Indian team, he would carry Theplas with him. He also added that one can find it everywhere in Gujarat and Thepla is the first name which people use to describe the state

The 27-year-old then introduced Keshav with the secret to his fiery on-field performance – ‘The Mirchi Bhajiya’ (it’s basically deep-fried green chillies with stuffings). The zesty duo then ended their meal with ‘Gajar ka Halwa’ and clinking the glass of ‘Chaas.’
