Chris Gayle is a man who cannot be kept out of action, whether on-field or off-field. However, he is not one of the most active fielders, to be frank, and is usually positioned safely at the slips where he has would not be forced to run behind the ball and chase it.

But, his lazy behaviour doesn’t mean that the Jamaican giant has no quick reflexes. Gayle has been quite successful at the slip position and grabs almost every opportunity that comes to him. Very rarely does he spill chances. His focus his sharp and can quickly pounce on anything coming towards anything, especially when standing close to the stumps to spinners.

South Africa were cruising towards victory while chasing 185 runs to win against West Indies. The incident occurred when the Proteas were at 141/1 with Hashim Amla on strike. Leg spinner Rawl Lewis ran in and pitched a slightly flighted delivery at the driving length to Amla. The right-hander was in no mood to score off the ball and decided to defend it.

Unfortunately, Amla fails to middle the ball and ends up nicking it towards the first slip where Gayle was standing. The catch looked simple initially but Gayle had to dive to his right in order to get hold of the ball which eventually popped the ball out of his while rolling over in follow through. While rolling over, Gayle somehow manages to push the ball in the air and miraculously catches it with the back of his hand while his face still being stuffed into the field.
