India’s ODI series loss to England has started new debates. Aakash Chopra says the main worry isn’t just this defeat, but what it reveals about India’s recent form.
Chopra said this isn’t a one-off result. He noted that India have often lost key series lately, raising doubts about their consistency against strong teams.
The former India opener raised a tough point, asking which major bilateral series India has won recently, besides victories over Afghanistan in a Test and ODI series.
“We’ve lost another series, as in Ireland, then England, now the ODIs. Other than beating Afghanistan, what else have we won?” he said.
“We won the World Cup, but lost to New Zealand and South Africa before that. We’re winning less and losing more, and we shouldn’t get used to losing,” he said.
Chopra says India must do better against strong teams, especially abroad. Beating weaker sides isn’t enough for a champion team.
The ODI series loss has put more pressure on India. Their next challenge is a chance to prove Chopra wrong and win back the fans’ confidence.
