The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has submitted a fresh request to the ICC, asking for a change in its group for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Initially, Bangladesh requested that its matches be moved out of India due to security concerns, but the ICC rejected the proposal and confirmed the original schedule.
As per the existing draw, Bangladesh is in Group C alongside West Indies, England, Nepal, and Italy, with matches scheduled in Kolkata and Mumbai.
The BCB has requested a swap with Ireland, which is placed in Group B, whose matches are scheduled to be played in Colombo and Pallekele, Sri Lanka.
BCB officials have stated concerns over the safety of players, media personnel, and fans while playing in India, despite ICC assurances of tight security.
Changing groups would disrupt the entire tournament structure, including schedules, ticket sales, and broadcast agreements, making ICC approval highly unlikely.
