Why did India’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara suddenly retired?

Cheteshwar Pujara announced his retirement from all formats of cricket on August 24, 2025, through a social media post.

He played 103 Test matches for India since debuting in 2010 under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, facing some of the toughest bowling attacks in world cricket.

Reason for Retirement
