The West Indies will play their first Test match at home since 2019 when they lock horns against Sri Lanka in a short two-match Test series that will begin on 21st March 2021 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. This Test series will also see a change of guard as far as leadership duties are concerned for the West Indies. Kraigg Brathwaite has been made the full-time captain of the West Indian Test side starting with the home series against the Lankans.

On the other hand, the Sri Lankan side will enter the series on the back of four consecutive Test match defeats. In fact, such has been Sri Lanka’s poor run in the whites that they have managed to win just one out of the last nine Test matches that they have played.

The Test series between the two sides will be a part of the World Test Championship (WTC). Sri Lanka will be desperate to end their losing streak in Test cricket when they take on Kraigg Brathwaite and his men in the first rubber. On the other hand, the West Indies will be looking to assert their dominance under a new leader. And surely, a cracking series awaits the fans.

Pitch and conditions

Patience will be the biggest virtue that the batsmen would need if they have to score runs on this pitch. The pitch will definitely help the bowlers, and the spinners might come into play as the match progress and enters the business end. However, if the batsmen can be watchful, they can make it count.
