The Windies team thumped the visiting England team comfortably during the Tests series but it won’t be an easy task to replicate in the ODI series. The Eoin Morgan-led team are No.1 ranked ODI side and have dominated every bilateral series they played in the last two years. On the other hand, Windies have not won a series in the 50-over format for more than four and a half years. The Caribbean team will be hoping to end their decade wait for an ODI series win over England with the confidence of winning the Tests.

All the key stats and numbers that matter ahead of the 5-match ODI series between Windies and England:

6 – England now have won each of their last six bilateral ODI series against the Windies. The last instance of the Caribbean team winning an ODI series against England was in 2007. The last instance of Windies defeating England in a home ODI series was way back in 1998.


9 – England has won each of their previous nine multi-game bilateral ODI series. England, however, lost to Scotland during the last year’s one-off ODI match.


17-3 – England’s win-loss record while chasing in ODIs since the start of 2017. In the last two years, England has lost only three ODIs; all three while chasing 350+ targets.


90.85 – Shai Hope’s batting average across his last ten ODI innings. Hope aggregated 636 runs in his previous ten ODI innings with help of three unbeaten centuries but bagged two ducks.


476 – Number of sixes Chris Gayle has hit in International cricket. He needs one more six to become the player to hit the most number of sixes in International cricket by surpassing Shahid Afridi’s tally of 476.


1963 – Ben Stokes needs 37 more runs to complete 2000 runs in ODI cricket. He will become only the 4th player from England with the double of 2000 runs and 50 wickets in this format. Stokes also needs 60 runs for completing 13000 runs in professional cricket having scored 12940 runs thus far.


2014 – The last instance of Windies winning an ODI series/tournament was way back in 2014 against Bangladesh at home. Since then, the Windies featured in 17 ODI series/tournaments out of which 13 were bilateral series. Windies lost 12 of those 13 bilateral series while the 3-match series against Afghanistan in 2017 ended in a draw.


4946 – Runs Joe Root has aggregated in his 121-match ODI career from 115 innings. Root needs to score 54 runs from next two innings to become the 4th fastest player to complete 5000 runs in ODI cricket and the fastest from England to the milestone.


8991Eoin Morgan needs nine more runs for completing 9000 runs in International cricket. England opener Jonny Bairstow (3939) needs 61 more runs for reaching 4000 List A runs.
