Australia Women continue to dominate the hosts as they thumped England Women by 93 runs in the first T20I game. Meg Lanning’s record unbeaten knock of 133 is now the highest individual score in Women’s T20I history. Her innings helped Australia Women to put on their highest T20I total of 226/3. England were limited to only 133/9 and suffered their maiden defeat at the County Ground in Chelmsford.

England Women featured in six T20Is and eight ODIs at this venue prior to this defeat and won in all 14 of them. The first T20I exposed quite a lot of loop-holes in the England line-up. The hosts lacked proper planning with the ball and let Lanning dominate the game. Their openers can’t be trusted when the movement is available as they bagged ducks failing to cop against Elysse Perry’s opening spell.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The County Ground in Hove has ideal conditions for T20 games. The venue offers a bit of movement early on and the turn as the game progresses. The short boundaries available here make it difficult to defend totals. The teams batting first wouldn’t compromise for anything less than 160.

Expert Advice:

Ellyse Perry might dictate the terms in ODIs, Tests and Big Bash League but not in the T20Is. One of the reasons for this is her batting position which is why she is not a mandatory pick. Perry usually finds her walking out to bat in the last five overs. Her USP in T20Is is swinging in the new cherry which she has done successfully in the first T20I. Bowling on a track that witnessed 626 runs scored across 50 overs, Perry troubled the English top-order.

Probable Winners:

Australia Women are expected to earn one more win and seal the T20I series as well.
