World Cup 2015 Match 33 England vs Bangladesh; Bangladesh in QFs, England knocked out: Bangladesh and England met at Adelaide Oval to decide which one of them qualifies for the quarterfinals from this match. Then Mahmudullah was joined Mushfiqur Rahim after Shakib was dismissd for just 2 runs in between. Together Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur not only added runs but increased the Bangladeshi run rate also. Both of them added 141 runs for the 6th wicket. Mushfiqur scored 89 runs off 77 balls and Mahmudullah made the first century for Bangladesh in World Cup history by scoring 103 from 138 balls. The partnership between the two enabled Bangladesh to score 275/5 in 50 overs. The English bowlers were able to stop Bangladesh from scoring 300 or more. James Anderson and Chris Jordan both picked up 2 wickets each in the Bangladeshi innings Stuart Board and Moeen Ali took 1 each. England knew that they had to win the match to qualify for the knock out stage because a loss would have knocked them out of the World Cup 2015. Moeen Ali (19) and Ian Bell (63) gave England a solid start with an opening start of 43 runs in 7 overs. After that Arafat Sunny, Shakib-Al-Hasan and Taskin Ahmed (2/59) put tremendous pressure on England in the middle overs with tight line and length and some great field placing by Captain Mashrafe Mortaza. Alex Hales (27) and Joe Root (29) tried to rebuild the innings but Mortaza removed both of them. English Captain Eoin Morgan’s nightmare of a tournament continued when he was dismissed by Rubel Hossain for a 0. Taskin Ahmed than removed James Taylor for 1 and the pressure on England became more and more unbearable. Jos Buttler(65) and Chris Woakes (42*) tried to take England to the win but brilliant pace bowling in the middle overs by Taskin Ahmed and Mashrafe himself tied England down without leaking runs. The end came quick with Rubel Hossain coming back to bowl the 49th over with England needing 16 runs in 2 overs with 2 wickets in hand. Rubel removed both Stuart Board and James Anderson in 3 balls to give Bangladesh an improbable and important win. Bangladeshi bowlers especially Rubel Hossain who picked up 4/53 got valuable support from Taskin Ahmed (2/59), Mashrafe (2/48) and the spinners Shakib and Sunny. Thought the spinners didn’t pick up a wicket, they were instrumental in England being choked in the middle overs. Mahmudullah was named Man of the Match for his 103. Bangladesh now qualifies for the quarterfinals, where they might face off against Group B toppers India. Whereas England’s dismal World Cup campaign ends here with one game to go for them. Bangladesh had beat England in 2011 World Cup also to knock them out of that tournament and here they repeated the feat again.
