World Cup 2019: 5 Players fans wanted but selectors did not include them in the World cup squad

Cricket Carnival is just around the corner. The much-awaited ICC World Cup starts from 30th May. The venue this time is England and Wales. Traditionally, Team India has performed very well, especially in the shorter format of the game in the English conditions. Be it winning the first World cup title in 1983, or lifting the Champions Trophy in 2013, India has been the team to watch out for when it plays on the English tracks. When we talk about the Indian Cricket team, it has a humungous fan following not only in India but across the globe. With the amount of excitement going around for the Cricket World cup, Indian Cricket fanatics are likely to have their opinion regarding the selection of the Indian team. There is a high possibility that the selectors may not be on the same page as the fans are when it comes to choosing the players. So, here is the list of 5 players, whom fans wanted, but are not selected in the Indian team for the World cup 2019. 1) Yuvraj Singh Yuvraj Singh. From hitting six sixes to Stuart Broad in the inaugural Twenty 20 competition to become the villain in the 2014 edition of the same tournament. The brave-hearted man was the Man of the Series in the 2011 World Cup and later on it was found that he was fighting with cancer while he was playing the tournament. After getting treatment, he managed to get into the team again. He was unable to reach his prime again and subsequently dropped again. Yuvi has always been a crowd puller famous for hitting sixes. With number four position up for grabs, his fans were optimistic that he could make another comeback into the Indian team, but it wasn’t to be. 2) Rishabh Pant Rishabh Pant. (Photo by Robert Cianflone/Getty Images) The swashbuckling all-rounder from Roorkee had a tremendous start to his International career when he got off the mark with a huge six of the bowling of Adil Rashid in his debut test against England. His overseas record in Test matches is really praising worthy with a couple of hundreds in Australia and England He has shown glimpses of what he can do with the bat in the shorter format of the game. His ability to use the long handle and hit sixes can be quite useful for the team. The left hander can even be used as a floater in the team. But as of now, a little chink in his armour is his wicket-keeping skills which he needs to work upon. Perhaps, that could be the reason why Dinesh Karthik was pipped over him for the second wicket keeper’s role. Rishabh is definitely the man for the future and with age on his side, we may see him breaking many records in the future. 3) Suresh Raina Suresh Raina. (Photo Source: Twitter) The attacking left-hander who plays Ranji Trophy for Uttar Pradesh has represented India in more than 200 ODI’s. He was once considered the best finishers in the world of cricket. He is a brilliant fielder and a useful off break bowler who is used as a partnership breaker. Raina always has been one of the adorable cricketers in India. With 2 World cups under his belt, he was expected by his fans to be a part of this tournament as well. But what went against him is the fact that his fitness deteriorated and so did his bowling. He did not do anything noteworthy in the domestic circuit in batting as well. With age not on his side and emergence of other players, it is a slim chance that he would be considered ever again in the Indian team. 4) Umesh Yadav Umesh Yadav. (Photo by Robert Cianflone/Getty Images) Umesh Yadav, who is fondly known as “Vidharbha Express” was once considered as the next big thing in the Indian Cricket. He can be termed as one of the fastest bowlers in India at the moment if not the fastest. He is an attacking bowler who always goes for wickets but can be expensive sometimes. He was the leading wicket-taker for India with 18 wickets in the 2015 edition of the World Cup. He bowled exceptionally well in the matches against Bangladesh and Australia. His pace and swing could have been an asset in the English conditions and he could have been taken there as the fourth pacer. Also, being one of the fittest cricketers in the team with a bullet throw his fans were expecting to see him in action in this addition as well. The reason for not picking him could be his inconsistency and unable to control the runs in the final stages of the innings. 5) Ambati Rayadu MS Dhoni & Ambati Rayudu. He was considered as the perfect contender for the number 4 spot in the Indian team for the World Cup. He had a terrific series against West Indies at home, had a decent Asia cup as well. Then came the New Zealand tour where he struggled for most of the part, baring the last ODI where he scored a fighting half century in a winning cause. Against the Aussies in both home and away, he struggled miserably. It has been a long while that he has scored a century which is a matter of concern for the team management. The thing which went against him is that he is only a one-dimensional cricketer, while players like Dinesh Karthik and Vijay Shankar are all-rounders who are much quick across the turf as compared to him and are much better when it comes to rotating strike. These examples show us that one cannot take his place in the team for granted. Some failures in performance may lead to omissions. So, any opportunity coming your way should be utilized as there always will be someone waiting to grab the opportunity.
