Team India is the only team that is now unbeaten in the tournament after New Zealand’s run came to an end against Pakistan the other day. India have defeated the likes of Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, and Afghanistan in their five matches with one against Black Caps being rained off. Currently, they are facing the Jason Holder-led West Indies team in Manchester. This game didn’t start off well for them as opener Rohit Sharma was dismissed early in the innings.

The Indian team was clinical in its performances against the Kangaroos, the Men in Green and Proteas, but Afghanistan gave them a good scare. One reason for India’s dominance has been the form of its opener Rohit, who has scored two centuries so far, one against South Africa and another against arch-rivals Pakistan. He fell early against Afghanistan and the team lacked that good start and suffered because of it.

Rohit got a bad decision against Windies, feels Twitterati

Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bat first on a beautiful pitch in Manchester. The Indian team went into the match unchanged, while West Indies made some changes, bringing in Sunil Ambris and Fabian Allen for Evin Lewis and Ashley Nurse. The Indian openers KL Rahil and Rohit Sharma started off cautiously facing Sheldon Cottrell and Kemar Roach’s brilliant first spells.

Rohit started to open up a little as Rahul was content with keeping one end occupied and in the 6th over of the match, he took on Kemar Roach, hitting the pacer for a six off the second ball and for a boundary on the fourth ball. He was looking in great touch and that’s when Roach brought a delivery back into the right-hander and there was some noise as the keeper Shai Hope grabbed it behind. The bowler was convinced he had his man as the Windies players went up in unison.

The matter was referred to the third umpire, with the soft signal being not out. Replays showed that the ball was right beside the inside edge of the bat and the front pad when the Ultra Edge showed a spike. After some deliberation, the third umpire gave it out much to the chagrin of Rohit Sharma and West Indians on the field rejoiced as he went back to the pavilion, for 18 runs.
