Zimbabwe cricket team created history in Sri Lanka a few days ago. They beat Sri Lanka in their backyard in an ODI series, their first overseas triumph in eight years. Moreover, this was also the first series win for Zimbabwe over the Lankans. However, in the subsequent one-off Test, the hosts under their new Test captain Dinesh Chandimal, comfortably beat the hosts.

With the end of the tour, it is time for the Zimbabwe team to return home and Indian boys will visit the Island nation. Meanwhile, Zimbabwean captain Graeme Cremer in an interview said that if he gets a chance to meet Indian skipper Virat Kohli until the time he is in Sri Lanka, then he would ask him for a few inputs on playing cricket.

“Will probably try and pick Kohli’s brain on playing spin and how he goes about his game…”, the skipper Cremer, speaking exclusively to dailymailnews.com. Although Cremer’s troop laboriously scored 377 runs (lead 387 runs), after being on 4/23 and 5/59 at one stage in the second innings, they could not win the match.

“I thought we were in trouble at those scores but I also knew we still had a lot of batting to come. It will be a great achievement to beat Sri Lanka for the first time..and I think we have never won many Tests because we don’t get to play Test cricket consistently,” the allrounder said.

Series in a remarkable record for Cremer

Zimbabwe might have lost the one-off Test, but the grit they showed in coloured clothes is a sign that they are slowly emerging as a strong force. Following the ODI drubbing, Sri Lankan captain Angelo Matthews relinquished his captaincy and was replaced by Dinesh Chandimal in Tests and Upal Tharanga in one-day internationals and T20I. The ODI series win is a remarkable feat for Zimbabwe skipper Cremer.
