12 Cricketers who missed a thing despite achieving everything in their career: As they say in the journey of life no matter how much you get, there is always something or the other which remains beyond your reach. The life of cricketers is also no different. No matter how much they achieved throughout their glorious cricketing journey there were things which remained out of their reach even after much rounds of die-hard efforts. It justifies the saying that the game of cricket is a great leveler, one day you find yourself at the top of the world while at the other you are found struggling for executing even simple things on the field which might have proved to be a cakewalk on some other day. Today, we present the list of 12 Cricketers who missed a thing despite achieving everything in their career: 1. Sachin Tendulkar and the Lord’s century: Sachin Tendulkar (© Getty Images) The Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is hailed as the God of Cricket due to his momentous level of achievements on the cricket field. The man who scored as many as 100 international centuries couldn’t score a century at the Mecca of cricket Lord’s. Sachin made 5 appearances in the whites at Lord’s but he couldn’t even cross the 40 run mark at the historic ground. While in ODIs, Tendulkar’s highest score at Lord’s was 30 runs. 2. As far as Bradman is concerned if he had made 4 runs in the final Test match of his career, he would have ended up his majestic career with a mind-wobbling average of 100. But unfortunately he couldn’t achieve the feat as he got out on a duck in his final innings and in this way his illustrious career ended with 6,996 runs at an average of 99.94. That’s why it’s said that every drop counts. 3. Jacques Kallis never getting his hands on the World Cup: Jacques Kallis. From making centuries to taking wickets or from taking catches at slip to winning series in Australia, his CV has many towering achievements. But unfortunately, he could never be a part of the World Cup winning team though his best chances to win the World Cup came in 1999 and 2007. (© Getty Images) Coming into the 2012 tour of England, Mark Boucher was about to become the 1st wicket-keeper in the history of international cricket to affect 1,000 dismissals. But sometimes you call it misfortune or whatever but destiny has something else written for you in it’s store. A tragic injury to his eye forced him to quit international cricket. Boucher ended his career with 999 international dismissals, 555 dismissals in the whites, 444 in the limited overs cricket. 5. Sehwag missing out on his 3rd triple century in Tests: Virender Sehwag. But demolishing Indian opener Virender Sehwag was on the brink of creating history as he was on his way to the 3rd triple-century of his career. But unfortunately, Viru missed out on the record merely by 7 runs as he got out on 293. It was Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan who outfoxed him. 6. Mahela Jayawardene missing out on Lara’s record: Mahela Jayawardene. (Photo Source: AFP) The elegant Sri-Lankan batsman Mahela Jayawardene has been one of the greatest batters born in his country. In 2006 Colombo Test against South Africa Jayawardene had shared the highest partnership of 624 runs for any wicket with Kumar Sangakkara. But in the same Test Mahela looked all set to break the record for highest individual score in Tests when he crossed the 350 run mark but unfortunately he got cleaned up by Andre Nel on 374 runs and missed the landmark by 26 runs. 7. MS Dhoni not making International century outside Asia: MS Dhoni. (© Getty Images) Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the only captain in the cricket history to win all the ICC events. MSD has achieved some glorious things throughout his career but he would always rue that he could never score a International century outside the sub-continent. Though, Dhoni hammered quite a few half-centuries outside Asia. Sometimes even the best in the business miss such things that leave the fans scratching their heads. 8. Saeed Anwar missing out on 200 in ODIs: Saeed Anwar scored 194 against India. (Photo Source : Reuters ) One of the greatest Pakistani openers ever, Saeed Anwar was the face of sheer class and graciousness. At a time when 200 runs in an ODI match seemed unimaginable score for many, Anwar was on his way to script history. We are talking about the Chennai ODI match in which the Pakistani southpaw was at his impeccable best. But to his bad luck he got out on 194 runs and missed the historic milestone of becoming the first batsman in ODI history to score a double-ton. 9. Jim Laker missing out on 20 wickets: Jim Laker. (Photo Source: PA Photos) The English spinner Jim Laker is the only man in the history of cricket to grab 19 scalps in a single Test match. The feat was achieved in the 3rd Ashes Test which was being played at Old Trafford. But Jim couldn’t take all the 20 wickets in the match for his side and missed the milestone by only 1 wicket much to his disappointment. 10. Shane Warne getting out on 99: Shane Warne. (© Getty Images) The legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne took 1,001 wickets in international cricket. But Warne was a very handy batsman lower-down the order as well and bailed out the Aussie side out of trouble on many occasions. Shane aggregated 4,172 runs with the bat in international cricket with 13 fifties to his credit but could never reach the three figure mark. On one occasion in Tests, he got close to the 100 run mark but unluckily he got out on 99 runs and missed the century mark by 1 runs. 11. Brian Lara missing out on 12,000 runs in Tests: Brian Lara. (© Getty Images) Brian Charles Lara, the West Indies genius, has been one of the greatest batsmen the game has ever witnessed. He had the audacity to enthrall the crowd with his superlative batting on the 22 yards. Lara stroked as many as 11,953 runs in 131 Test matches he played. But he missed the landmark of scoring 12,000 runs in Test cricket by 47 runs. Overall, only 5 batters have reached the mark of 12,000 runs in Test cricket. 12. Kumar Sangakkara ending up with 11-double centuries: Kumar Sangakkara. (© Getty Images) The Sri Lankan southpaw Kumar Sangakkara is hailed as one the greatest ambassadors of the game. With a sold technique and a classical style, Sanga was a gracious sight on the eye. Kumar was extremely successful and accumulated 12,400 runs in 134 Test matches at a staggering average of 57.40 with 38 tons and 11 double-tons.
