The last big Test series of 2018 gets underway next week. The fans, unsurprisingly, can’t wait for the teams to take the ground and heat up the already hot Australian summer even more. The ritual of discussing cricket on shop-fronts and everywhere else, among the fans, has begun, with everyone coming up with arguments and statistics (sometimes self-made, just to get the message across), to display their expertise on cricket in general, and India-Australia Test series in particular.

The players, on the other hand, are doing their part with practise sessions and nets, so that they walk into the Adelaide Oval next Thursday with all boxes ticked. Occasionally, while practising, players end up injuring themselves, even during a match and are, at times, ruled out of the equation. This can often hurt teams, who lack a capable backup player or more.

If India lose a pacer as fitness has been a major concern for the Asian giants, let’s take a look at three bowlers who can possibly come in as a replacement into the team and make up for the loss:

1. Rajneesh Gurbani

The Nagpur-born pacer has been in great form this whole year and has scalped a lot of wickets. He rose to popularity in the last season of the Ranji Trophy when he helped his team, Vidarbha, to a scintillating tournament win. The 25-year-old’s skills with the ball impressed everyone so much so, that some even advocated for his national call-up.

Gurbani has played a total of 17 first-class matches, in which he has claimed an impressive 76 wickets at a phenomenal average of 20.13. The right-arm bowler, in his short career, has already taken six five-wicket hauls and a ten-wicket match to his name. Looking at all these numbers, one can safely say, Rajneesh Gurbani is capable of representing the country at the highest level.
