At the start of this decade, the Indian fast bowling unit got a boost by the addition of a couple of genuine quicks. The Jharkhand cricketer, Varun Aaron was one of them who can consistently clock 140 kmph. He got his debut cap against England and immediately troubled the batsmen with his raw pace. He finished the game with the figures of 3/24 and it seemed that the team found a new bowling kingpin.

Soon he made his Test debut but a back injury sidelined him for almost two years. He made a successful return to the international circuit and his pace was the weapon that the team needed in overseas tours. Varun bowled quality spells coupled with poor ones which cost him his place in the playing XI.

Eventually, he was dropped because of the rise of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah through the ranks. He played his last international game 4 years ago. Later Aaron worked hard in the domestic arena and looked in good shape when he represented Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2019. At 29 he has age on his side but he lacks control over his craft. Now the fast bowling reserves of India are stronger than ever so it might be difficult for him to get another chance.
