The player who hasn’t got the share of success and recognition that he has worked for, Shahbaz Nadeem, might not get to play in the Indian team in the coming days. After years of struggle, he got to play his first Test match in 2019 against South Africa, but after that, he hasn’t been seen in Indian colours.

In the only match that he played, he did pretty well. He ended the match with 4 wickets to his name while giving away 40 runs. This performance would have given him the confidence that he would be picked for more Test matches. But, in the New Zealand series, he was not picked in the Indian squad and the chances of selection in the future too seem bleak. And, the fact that the Indian team is not scheduled to play Test matches this year, does not do any good to his case.

He is competing against both the established and the new entrants for a place in the squad and the competition is very tough. He is up against the likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin and others who are well settled into the squad and a plethora of younger players are lined up to take their place.
