India is known to produce a variety of skilled batsmen who have ended up owning the major records when it comes to Test cricket. However, when it comes to first-class cricket, the Indian players don’t hold the authority and fall way behind. But many players are known to create a wide range of records in the domestic circuit – in the Ranji Trophy and other first-class tournaments. We now look at few records in the 248-year old history of first-class cricket which are not mainstream but are on the name of Indian batsmen.

The 1947-48 domestic season was a special one for KC Ibrahim that ended up making him an Indian test cricketer although for only four games. His season began in the Bombay Festival Tournament where he led a team named after him, KC Ibrahim’s XI. In the first game against MN Raiji’s XI, he scored 218* and 36* respectively.

Ibrahim followed it with scores of 234* and 77* in the game against MK Mantri’s XI. Ibrahim was dismissed first time during that season in the Ranji Trophy game against Sind. KC Ibrahim did score 144 runs before being dismissed which took his season aggregate to 709 runs till then. Those 709 runs Ibrahim scored created a record for most runs scores between two dismissals in first-class cricket by any player.

In fact, till date, no player scored even 650 runs between their two dismissals. Sarfaraz Khan, also a Mumbai batsman, scored 605 runs between his two dismissals recently and nearly threatened to take down the long-lasting record from the grasp of Ibrahim.
