Mujeeb ur Rahman has been rewriting record books ever since his debut in 2017 when the off-spinner became the first Male cricketer to be born in the 21st century. Mujeeb bagged his maiden ODI five-fer with 5/50 against Zimbabwe at the Sharjah this year. He was only 16 years and 325 days old at the time of his five-fer making him the youngest player to claim a five-wicket haul in ODI cricket.

Mujeeb thus broke the longstanding record held by Waqar Younis who picked up 6/26 at the age of 18 years and 164 days against Sri Lanka at the same venue in 1990. The off-spinner shared the new ball in the game where he picked up his maiden ODI five-fer.

Thus, Mujeeb became only the 2nd spinner after Bermuda’s Dwayne Leverock to take an ODI five-fer while opening the bowling. Sri Lanka’s Akila Dananjaya became the 3rd one with his 6/29 in the second half of 2018 against South Africa.
