If a 22-year-old can fill up the opening slot which was left by Shane Watson, then he has incredible abilities. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the new sensation from the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) camp has made it to the national squad. He has been a consistent performer for his state team and his franchise team.

Last year, he scored 204 runs at an average of 51. He had all the time in the world to play his natural game. This was mainly because he played according to the situation. In 2020, he had the highest score of 72 in six games. Apart from that, he managed to score three half-centuries.

This year too, in seven games, Gaikwad has managed to score 2 half-centuries. In those outings, he has scored 196 runs. Although he had a poor start to the campaign he gained his touch later on. If the management opts for a left-right combination, then Gaikwad could open with Dhawan.
