Ever since India has lost the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand, the fans are eager to know about MS Dhoni’s immediate future. It is being speculated that the veteran will bring curtains down on his illustrious career as he is unlikely to play the next World Cup in 2023 which is scheduled to take place in India. However, Dhoni looks set to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) next year for the Chennai Super Kings.

No wonder, the most decorated wicketkeeper-batsman of the country is at the wrong side of his age but still looks fit. In the semi-final against the Kiwis, he scored a valiant half-century and brought his team back in the game along with Ravindra Jadeja. All hoped the best finisher in him will come to the fore for the Men in Blue only for Martin Guptill to spoil the party.

With Team India being stuck in Manchester due to unavailability of tickets, nobody has yet confirmed anything about MS Dhoni. Even Virat Kohli cleared in the press conference that the former captain hasn’t spoken to him anything about his retirement.

CSK official confirms

Amidst all the retirement speculation, MS Dhoni is set to lead the CSK in the IPL 2020 as well. A top franchise official confirmed the news while speaking to Mumbai Mirror. “Whatever may be the speculation, he will play for us next year,” he said. This comes as a delighting news for the Indian fans as they haven’t seen the end of the legendary cricketer yet.

MS Dhoni though is most likely to call it a day as far as his international career is concerned. According to the reports, he is unlikely to be the part of the squad for the upcoming West Indies tour where Team India will play three T20Is, as many ODIs and a couple of Test matches. The likes of Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are also likely to be rested for the tour while a full strength team will be picked for the Test series.
