KL Rahul has been at the centre stage in the ongoing England tour ever since he smashed the century in the first T20 International. But the talented cricketer has failed to replicate a similar kind of form since then. He also played in the first Test of the five-match series but looked completely out of sorts against the swinging ball. His woes continued to increase in the nets also as he was castled by Arjun Tendulkar at Lord’s.

Ahead of the second Test match, the visitors were training hard in the nets to level the series after losing the enthralling Edgbaston game by a close margin of 31 runs. Arjun is bowling at the batsmen to make them feel comfortable while facing Sam Curran who bamboozled the top-order with his left-arm seam bowling last week.

According to Mumbai Mirror, KL Rahul failed to read a corker of a delivery from Arjun, who bowls at a decent pace, which uprooted his stumps. The young man apologetically walked towards the batsman to take the ball back as Rahul regained his composure soon to applaud Arjun and said ‘well bowled’.

Should Rahul open?

Rahul batted at number 3 for Team India in the series opener and looked out of ideas against the moving ball. In the first innings, he could score only 4 runs and was dismissed by Curran as he played at a harmless delivery outside the off-stump. In the second attempt though he batted well and was looking comfortable in the middle with 13 runs under his kitty.

Just when the fans thought that he will steady the ship along with the captain Virat Kohli, Ben Stokes delivered an unplayable which swung late after pitching and thrashed the hopes of the visitors. The calls of him to open at Lord’s is increased with Shikhar Dhawan likely to be dropped for the second Test. The duo of Kohli and Ravi Shastri are known to surprise many with their team selections and it remains to be seen if Rahul is promoted up the order.
