Team Pakistan is known for producing quality fast bowlers. The recent player that the Men in Green had unearthed last season was young Usman Shinwari. Shinwari was added to the Pakistan squad for the ODI series against Sri Lanka in UAE last year. Shinwari had a dream start to his career as he bagged a five wicket haul in his debut series.

Shinwari’s 5/34 had sealed an emphatic win for the Pakistani team in one of the matches of the series. However, the promising start was cut short soon after the series. Pakistan were set to tour New Zealand and Usman Shinwari was diagnosed with a career-halting stress fracture in his back. The diagnosis had revealed that Usman Shinwari will be out of action for a minimum of six months.

He was subsequently not picked for the New Zealand tour. Many wondered that the career of Shinwari could see a premature end. But now, as per the quotes in brecorder, Pakistani bowling coach Azhar Mahmood has given a major update on Shinwari’s status.

In a delightful news, he revealed that Usman Shinwari is recovering well. If things fall in place, the youngster could feature in the 2018 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) that kicks off on February 22.

“I am glad to say that Shinwari has already started to bowl again based upon what he has told me and the videos that he has sent to me already. Hopefully he will be fit to play in the PSL which starts on February 22,” Azhar Mahmood quoted.

On Junaid Khan’s fitness

Another Pakistani bowler who has been out of action due to an injury is Junaid Khan. Azhar Mahmood gave an update on Junaid as well. Commenting on Junaid’s recovery, the Pakistani bowling coach remarked that Junaid is pain free at the moment. He has started to bowl and is likely to make a comeback some time soon.

“As far as Khan is concerned, he is pain-free now and has started to bowl again and hopefully his fitness will also improve very soon,” added Mahmood.
