Bangladesh likely to face Hyderabad in warm-up game at Gymkhana

The gloom over Hyderabad hosting the one-off Test match between India and Bangladesh cleared after BCCI’s manager Ratnakar Shetty enquired about the development with the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s secretary K John Manoj. Mr. Shetty, who approached HCA official through a telephonic conversation, will be in Hyderabad on Wednesday to check out the various arrangements himself. Hyderabad, that was slated to host the Test had a lot of issues with the resolution of HCA’s governing body and the fate of the results yet to be announced. There were even talks of shifting the game due to lack of funds as the Hyderabad Board wasn’t granted funds by the BCCI as they didn’t receive an approval for the same from the Lodha committee. In a recent development, it is also known that there will be a warm-up game in Hyderabad before the Test match. Talking to CricTracker, an HCA official said that Bangladesh will be playing a 2-day warm-up game in Hyderabad ahead of their Test match on February 9th. The visiting team will be facing the Hyderabad team, which recently made into quarter-finals of Ranji Trophy of the first time in 5 seasons at the Gymkhana Cricket Ground. However, the HCA is awaiting an approval over the 2-day game from BCCI after Bangladesh team has shown interest in playing one before their first-ever Test match on Indian soil. Hyderabad team, on the other hand, is expected to fly to Chennai on 27th January to take part in the South Zone games of Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 Trophy, which will be held between January 29th and February 3rd. The home team will be back to the city by February 4 a day before facing the Asian neighbors. This schedule is however yet to be finalized, which will happen only after the meeting between Mr. Shetty and John Manoj on Wednesday evening at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal, the venue of the Test match.
