Bangladesh’s horrid tour of South Africa turned from bad to worse with the absence of some of their key players namely Tamim Iqbal and Mustafizur Rahman, who injured themselves while playing football during warmups.

A dejected Team doctor claimed that the Bangladeshi players tend to become like Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi when it comes to playing football during training. BCB Doctor stressed the importance of remaining level-headed while playing the sport as he sees it as a matter of warm-up without being competitive.

Prior to the start of the ODI series, their ace batsman Tamim Iqbal and mainstay in pace department Mustafizur Rahman injured their leg and were left out of the limited-leg of the tour. They were forced to be sent back home ahead of the T20I series.

Team Doctor Debashis Chowdhury requested the players to be more careful while playing the game. “It’s disappointing to get injured while practising He practiced all year but when he is about to play for the national team he gets injured,” commented Chowdhury according to BDCrictime.

“The players have to keep in mind that we play football only for warm up, not for winning. They have to keep in mind we won’t play to score goals or for any competition,” added Debashis while insisting that football is only for warm-up.

Debashis also went ahead to claim that Bangladeshi players namely Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman become Maradona-Messi-like when they get the ball. “Like this, no one is having a warm up. We give instruction, but they become Maradona-Messi when they get the ball,” concluded the BCB Doctor.

Bangladesh is yet to open their account during their tour to South Africa. After losing the two Test matches by massive margins, the South Africans also whitewashed the ODI series by a margin of 3-0. The first of the two T20Is between South Africa and Bangladesh is scheduled on October 26 at Bloemfontein.
