With the amount of batting in this line-up, Wriddhiman Saha can be in this side just as a specialist wicketkeeper. Just like Russell, he suffered multiple injuries this year. He has been out of the side for so long that his place in the Test team is under clouds with Rishabh Pant doing really well.

Saha first picked up a hamstring injury during the South Africa tour at the start of the year. Then, while playing the IPL for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, he sustained a thumb injury. Later on, as he was looking forward to a comeback, a major shoulder injury pushed him further back and he had to undergo a surgery. He is expected to be back fit before the tour to Australia.
