The young Australian T20 side led by the stand-in skipper David Warner played a stunning and ravishing brand of cricket in the tri-nation T20I series victory, which included competitive teams like England and New Zealand. Both Australia and the Kiwis together hosted the entire tri-series at their respective lavishing cricket stadiums.

Australia emerged as the champion side of the three to get their hands on the prestigious Trans-Tasmanian title. 23-year old Billy Stanlake, who was part of the T20 team has laid a positive impression for the future in the mind of former Aussie captain Ricky Ponting.

I just love what all Stanklake’s got

Ponting praised the tall Australian fast bowler who bowls close to a quick speed of 150 kmph and can also swing the new ball at international level. The former skipper even revealed that the young bowler has so far seriously displayed some signs of being recognized in the list of some of the great fast bowlers of all-time. He has got a variety of deliveries in his armoury to rattle some of the best batsmen in the world.

“I just love the look of what he’s got. He’s almost seven feet tall, bowls close to 150 kilometres an hour, he can swing the new ball. He’s got a little nasty streak in him as well – he likes bowling bouncers. When we see him get a bit more of a tank and grow into his body a bit more and put on a little bit of weight, I think he’s someone that could be one of the all-time great fast bowlers. That’s all there ahead of him, we just hope he stays in one piece and becomes the kind of cricketer we all think he can be,” said Ponting as quoted by cricket.com.au.

He also has some parallels with Patt Cummins

The former Australian legendary cricketer also compared Stanlake to the current leading Australian fast bowler Patt Cummins. He mentioned that the two do have some identical areas but are somewhat different from each other too. Ponting also knows the fact that the former is quite raw material so far in international cricket and wants the Australian Cricket to keep good care of him for a better future in the game.

“I think there’s a lot of parallels there. Billy is probably a little bit finer – Pat was always a big solid sort of guy and Pat was introduced to the game at a younger age.Billy’s in his early 20s now, just starting to fill into his body. I know Cricket Australia have got every intention of looking after him as well as they can and making sure they do bulk him up and don’t break him too soon. Because it’s probably inevitable that those guys are going to have the injuries early in their careers,” concluded the legendary Australian batsman.
