Bipul Sharma announces retirement from all formats, to play cricket in USA

Bipul Sharma stated that his journey in the sport of cricket has been a remarkable one.

Left-arm spinner Bipul Sharma, who has featured in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has announced his retirement from the game. Sharma played 33 IPL matches and scalped 17 wickets.

Sharma took to Instagram to bid adieu to the game of cricket. Sharma stated that he has been playing the sport for 25 years and now the time has come for him to draw the curtains down on his career.

Sharma added that his journey in the sport of cricket has been a remarkable one, and also thanked his family for their constant support. The 38-year-old also thanked his coaches and well-wishers for their encouragement.

Onto the next phase of life: Bipul Sharma

Bipul Sharma also expressed his gratitude to the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) as well as the Sikkim Cricket Association for their support. Sharma also went ahead and thanked the two IPL franchises that he has played for, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) franchises.

Sharma added that he is now moving on to the next phase of his life, wants to spend more time with his kids as well as his family members, and play cricket in the USA. Sharma concluded by thanking the sport of cricket for everything that it has given to him in his life.

Sharma played 59 first-class matches and 96 List A matches in his career as well. While he scalped 126 wickets in his first-class career, the left-arm spinner prized out 96 batters in List A cricket. With the willow, Sharma scored 3012 runs in first-class cricket, while he plundered 1620 runs in the List A format of the game.
