Colombo Stars vs Jaffna Kings Head to Head Record in LPL History

Colombo Stars lock horns with Jaffna Kings in match ten of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2022 on Monday, December 12 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. Both sides will be meeting each other for the first time in this edition with their second clash scheduled for match no. 19 on December 19 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The Stars have played three matches in the tournament and have managed to seal victory only in one encounter. They lost their opening fixture to Kandy Falcons by a huge margin of 109 runs before getting off the mark against Dambulla Aura with a nine-run victory. Though they suffered another defeat this time against Galle Gladiators by 52 runs margin. With just two points and a solitary win, Colombo finds themselves in the fourth spot in the table. On the other hand, Jaffna have played three games and won two, and lost one. (till match no. seven). They clinched wins in their opening two matches against Galle and Dambulla before losing out to Kandy.

Talking about the Head-to-Head fixtures, both sides have met four times in the past, and it’s all even-stevens. The Stars and the Kings have registered two victories each before they gear up to face each other for the fifth time in the LPL. Notably, the Kings are the winners of both the previous editions held in 2020 and 2021.

Colombo and Jaffna last met in match 17 of the 2021 season and the Kings registered a massive victory by 102 runs over the Stars. Batting first, Tom Kohler-Cadmore stole the show with his blitzkrieg innings of 92 off just 55 which included five fours and eight maximums as Jaffna reached a huge total of 193/5. Chasing 194, the Stars faltered badly as they got bundled out for a paltry 91. Jayden Seales and V Viyaskanth picked up four and three wickets respectively for the Kings.
