Guyana Amazon Warriors have simply been unstoppable in this edition’s CPL. With a Net Run Rate of +1.950, Shoaib Malik and Co are sitting pretty on top of the points table with victories in all five matches. Their bowling has been the best of the tournament by a long distance. In their last match, the Warriors defeated the Jamaica Tallawahs by 81 runs and must be brimming with confidence.

They are next scheduled to lock horns with the Barbados Tridents at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown. The Tridents, led by Jason Holder, won their last game versus the St Lucia Zouks by 71 runs and they’ll be playing their first home match. On head-to-head, the Warriors lead the Tridents by 8-4. Moreover, Guyana has won three out of their four matches over the Tridents in Barbados.

Pitch and Conditions

All the five matches at the venue in CPL 2018 were won by the chasing teams. Hence, fielding first should be the way forward. The track last time wasn’t an overly batting-friendly one with scores over 160 being registered only twice in the match between Guyana and Barbados itself. The conditions will remain cloudy with thunderstorms at 7 and 8 PM. The temperature will be around 27 degrees.

Team Combinations

Barbados Tridents

The Tridents may bring back Hayden Walsh in place of left-arm spinner Joshua Bishop. The Warriors have quite a few powerful left-handers and they can pounce on the inexperience of Bishop. Alex Hales didn’t play the last game, the reason of which is still not known. If he returns then it will be tough to bench Justin Greaves, who got a quick-fire 57 opening the batting last time around.

Johnson Charles has been giving the starts but it’s Ashley Nurse, who’s providing the impetus to the innings, having scored 92 runs at a strike-rate of 176.92. In the bowling department, Holder has been the standout. Sandeep Lamichhane has been hard to get away as well. Roshon Primus has done a decent job. Walsh is also capable of making an impact as he has four wickets in two matches.

Probable XI

Johnson Charles, Justin Greaves, JP Duminy, Jonathan Carter, Ashley Nurse, Jason Holder (C), Raymon Reifer, Joshua Bishop/Hayden Walsh, Leniko Boucher (wk), Josh Lalor, Sandeep Lamichhane

Guyana Amazon Warriors

Romario Shepherd didn’t play the last match for some reason and he may make a comeback provided he is available. He is currently the joint leading wicket-taker for the team with seven wickets. Guyana haven’t missed Shadab’s services at all since Tahir and Qais Ahmad have been on their toes right from the outset. In fact, Tahir is bowling at an economy of 4.75, the best in the CPL 2019 thus far.

Keemo Paul has gotten seven wickets, though he has been a tad on the expensive side. In the batting department, Shoaib Malik, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran and Brandon King have scored around 140 runs each and they are in good form. Sherfane Rutherford hasn’t got much opportunities, but with a strike-rate of 211.11, Rutherford has shown that he is a reliable force lower down the order.

Probable XI

Brandon King, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Shimron Hetmyer, Shoaib Malik (C), Nicholas Pooran (wk), Sherfane Rutherford, Keemo Paul, Chris Green, Odean Smith/Romario Shepherd, Qais Ahmad, Imran Tahir
