Kuldeep Yadav's departure to the Lucknow Super Giants ahead of IPL 2027 leaves a gap in Delhi Capitals' spin attack. Vipraj Nigam, an all-rounder known for his leg-spin bowling and lower-order hitting, has been in and around India squads in 2026 and is part of the Delhi Capitals setup.

With Axar Patel remaining as captain and first-choice spinner, the second spinner's role becomes important. Nigam's leg-spin offers a different dimension alongside Axar's left-arm orthodox bowling, and a new coaching regime under Ganguly could give him the extended run he needs to establish himself in that position.
